3D mobile launching in India at budget price point

A new mobile phone that supports a 3D display is set to hit the market in India despite the fact that western audiences have yet to get their hands on any kind of 3D mobile technology.
What is perhaps the most important aspect of this release is that the mobile will be on sale for under 100 US dollars, which is roughly the equivalent of £63. For your money you will get a mobile that has a 3D ready display which does not require the user to wear glasses to enjoy stereoscopic effects akin to those present in 3D movies.
Spice Mobility is the firm behind the handset and it is certainly going to make its mark if the recommended retail price is maintained. The 3D ready display may only be 2.36 inches across the diagonal and sport a resolution of 240x320, but in terms of capabilities it has one obvious asset to help trump its rivals.
Like the Nintendo DS handheld console that is set to launch next year, this 3D mobile will have a toggle feature that will allow users to activate and turn off the 3D effects as they see fit. So far, the 3D integration is said to include user interface features, pictures and even video playback.
The 3D mobile will have a camera but unfortunately it will not itself be able to capture 3D stereoscopic images. It will support two SIM cards and have integrated Bluetooth along with a microSD memory card slot.
Because of the price of the M-67 3D mobile phone, it is unlikely that the quality of the 3D effect will be in the same league as upcoming rivals, but the fact that it will hit the market at such a low price point is an indication that this type of technology is viable for the mass market.
