Apple planning budget iPhone model

Apple might be creating a cut-price edition of the iPhone 4 with only 8GB of storage onboard, according to rumours circulated via Reuters.
There had been much speculation over the existence of an iPhone Nano targeted at the middle of the market as opposed to the top tier pricing and performance that has been the hallmark of the range, with this news seeming to confirm industry assumptions.
16GB and 32GB editions of the iPhone 4 will continue to be sold, but the 8GB could be up to £100 cheaper, based on Apple's current pricing structures. Of course if it launches after the release of the iPhone 5 then a further price slide will see it sit comfortably amongst the more affordable mobiles on the market.
Apple spokesperson, Tim Cook, has previously been quoted as saying that he wants to make the iPhone range more widely available, not only the preserve of the well-off but also accessible to people on tighter budgets, so trimming down the iPhone 4 would definitely help it squeeze into this category.
With the iPhone 5 set to be announced next month there are all sorts of conflicting rumours fluttering around online. One thing that seems certain is that when it does arrive there will be a price cut for the iPhone 4 to make sure that it does not steal the thunder of its successor.
This means two things for people who want to buy an iPhone. Firstly, if you have an iPhone 4 already that you want to recycle online then now might be the time to act, while prices are still buoyant.
Secondly, there is little point buying an iPhone 4 right now as its price is sure to topple and with the promise of a value-oriented 8GB edition more savings can be made in the near future.
