BlackBerry Bold Touch gets official unveiling

The BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 has been revealed to the world for the first time by Canadian smartphone manufacturer, Research in Motion (RIM).
The Bold Touch will be the first touchscreen version of the popular Bold range, retaining the full physical QWERTY keypad of its predecessors but integrating a finger-friendly display to appease those who are looking for a modern interface.
As well as the screen improvements, the Bold Touch will come with a 1.2GHz processor to keep things feeling smooth, although sadly this is a single core chip and not as powerful as the dual core 1.2GHz CPUs which are found in the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation.
Near Field Communication (NFC) to rival that of the Google Nexus S is found within the Bold Touch, while its rear facing camera will be able to deliver high-def video capture in 720p.
Measuring a fraction over a centimetre thick, the BlackBerry Bold Touch is the thinnest ever mobile produced by RIM, although it is still a millimetre or so away from its slimmest rivals.
One other significant aspect of the Bold Touch is that it will run the spanking new BlackBerry OS 7.0 platform when it hits the UK later in the year. Various high end features will be available using this software, including full HTML5 support in the web browser and voice search which will scan the whole phone for the things you seek.
RIM has already announced that BlackBerry OS 7.0 will not be backwards compatible with older handsets, according to TechRadar. This means that even the relatively sprightly BlackBerry Torch will be missing out on all that is promised, in part due to the fact that its processor will not be up to the task of running the new package.
