Celebrity aid for hospital radio recycling drive

Radio Marsden, which is based at two Royal Marsden hospitals located close to Sutton and Chelsea, got a little help from TV presenter, Caroline Flack, as it launched its bid to raise thousands of pounds via mobile phone recycling.
Flack is best known as the host of The Xtra Factor, which airs on ITV2 during the annual run of the hit reality talent contest, The X Factor.
She visited Radio Marsden to speak with DJ David Goodings and support the mobile phone recycling cause, according to the Sutton Guardian.
Mr Goodings said that the station was pleased to receive celebrity backing and pointed out that it needed as much help as it could get, to raise a portion of the £42,000 which is required to renovate its two studio spaces at the hospitals.
While the station provides an invaluable service to the patients of the hospital, it raises every penny of the money which it needs for support via donations, receiving no central funding whatsoever.
As such, it really needs people to donate their old mobile phones if they are in the area, with Mr Goodings pointing out that there are plenty of drop off points around Sutton, for those who want to get involved.
The Times Square Shopping Centre is partnering with the station to collect old mobiles, the value of which can then be recouped and pumped back into the station, to help pay for the studio refits.
You may find that there are similar mobile phone recycling schemes operating in your area, with the proceeds going to charity. You can also sell your old phone online and donate the money to a cause of your choice, or of course, keep a bit for yourself to put towards your next purchase.
