GTA III hits Android and iPhone

Grand Theft Auto III is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and you can now enjoy this classic 3D sandbox game in full on your Android or iPhone device for around £2.99.
The fact that the game is playable on the mobile phones of today, just shows how far smartphone hardware has come in recent years. GTA III was originally built to take advantage of the PlayStation 2 home games console, but contemporary smartphones are easily able to outpace this ageing piece of technology.
In fact GTA III will look decidedly pedestrian when compared with another current release, Infinity Blade II, for iOS devices.
Of course the size of the world and the possibilities for play are much larger in Grand Theft Auto and the game has been handily modified so that it will be easy to control on a touch screen device.
As long as you have an iPhone 4 or an iPhone 4S, you will be able to run GTA III without a hitch. Developer, Rockstar Games, has compiled a list of Android devices which will be able to power this title, including the Samsung Galaxy S2, LG Optimus 2X, HTC Sensation and many more.
It essentially seems that the game will be able to operate on your phone as long as you have a dual core processor, although this is not the case with the iPhone 4. Its low price point could encourage many people to part with their cash, because, for a full game that could last tens of hours, it is surprisingly affordable.
If your smartphone does not match the specifications required to run GTA III then you could always recycle it online and use the cash you receive to finance your next upgrade to something with a bit more grunt.
