HTC 7 Trophy gets SIM free UK pricing

Just a few days after the launch of Windows Phone 7 and the first of the associated smartphones has been given a SIM free price ahead of its UK launch. The HTC 7 Trophy will allegedly retail for a penny under £430, according to an announcement made by online retailer Amazon.
It was originally thought that the Trophy was going to be bagged as an exclusive for Vodafone in the UK, but now it looks like those who do not want to be tied down to a specific network for an extended period will be able to pick up the phone for a one-off payment of £429.99.
The Trophy is considered to be one of the more mainstream arrivals to boast Windows Phone 7 and its 3.8 inch screen is definitely a step down from the four inch Super AMOLED display sported by the Samsung Omnia 7. However, Microsoft's stringent implementation of minimum specifications means that you still get a 1GHz processor, a five megapixel camera and 720p video capture onboard.
At the moment official confirmation of this SIM free price has yet to be made and since the much larger HTC HD7 has been reported to be coming to the market for under £400, there is a chance that the Trophy's RRP could be revised downwards to compensate for its more refined proportions.
Many people are chosing to opt for SIM free mobile phones because when you commit to a two year contract deal with a network, you will be committed for a significant period. You can pair a SIM free phone with a low cost SIM only deal from any network of your choice and benefit from a short contractual length or pay as you go service.
With a SIM free phone you can also sell your mobile at any point and recoup much of its value, particularly with high end devices such as the HTC 7 Trophy.
