HTC Desire C prepped for launch

Rumours suggest that HTC could be launching a new entry level smartphone called the Desire C in the next few weeks.
There has been plenty of confusion over the exact name of this device, as it originally appeared two months ago as the HTC Golf, but during development its name has been changed to match the firm's new approach to mobile titles.
While the HTC Desire C was initially thought to be releasing as the Wildfire C, which would make sense, given its relatively low specifications, a report from ITProPortal, implies that it will, in fact, stick with the former of these two options.
In terms of specifications, the HTC Desire C could have a 3.5 inch touchscreen display, 4GB of storage space and version 4.0 of the Android operating system. Meanwhile, a five megapixel camera is set to be bolted onto the rear of the device.
While the processor type and clock speed remain a mystery, its budget-oriented nature means that it is likely to come with a single core chip running at 1GHz or less.
Of course if you are in the market for an affordable Android smartphone, then the HTC One V, which is already on sale, might be a suitable selection.
The One V offers a slightly larger 3.7 inch screen and also features HD video capture via its five megapixel camera. The Desire C is going to be priced competitively and should cost a little less than its similarly-specced sibling.
Of course, there is plenty of non-HTC competition at the lower end of the smartphone market, with the recently launched Huawei Ascend G300 offering perhaps the most compelling challenge to the Desire C. The good name of HTC could well see it winning over consumers, but nothing is set in stone.
