HTC reveals first Windows Phone 8 device

In something of a coup for Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC, it has managed to snag the role as being the firm behind the first true flagship device supporting Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.
This means that its freshly announced phone, known as the HTC Windows Phone 8X, has impressed the software giant enough to let it outdo Finnish firm, Nokia and lead the renewed attack on the mobile market.
The 8X is an impressive looking beast, with a colourful unibody shell with tapered edges coating its rear side and a significant black bezel featuring around the front.
It is actually thicker than most other cutting edge smartphones, breaching the 10mm barrier, but it manages to look good in spite of this impediment.
Around the front is a 4.3 inch HD display, which has a Super LCD 2 panel, giving it crisp detail and rich colours. An eight megapixel primary camera delivers full HD video recording, while a 2.1 megapixel snapper at the front, will let you enjoy high quality video chats.
Windows Phone 8 will be preinstalled on the HTC 8X, with a moderately overhauled interface and a number of other features on hand with Microsoft's latest mobile operating system.
An NFC chip will allow users to make contactless payments and you also get the usual complement of connectivity services including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The 8X will invariably be compared to Nokia's Lumia 920, which has a slightly larger 4.5 inch display and a similar level of attention to detail in terms of its design.
The 8X will be joined by the mid range 8S, which has a more compact four inch display and a dual core processor clocked at 1GHz.
Both devices will be out in November, by which point the race for Christmas supremacy will really be getting up to speed.
