LG Optimus G Pro inbound

LG's smartphone sales may be eclipsed by those of its fellow South Korean manufacturer, Samsung, but the company has continued to prove itself a worthy competitor with its consistently well received high end releases.
The LG Optimus G Pro is the latest range-topping Android device to be revealed by the firm and it will be on sale in Japan within the next few months, ahead of a wider international release.
On paper, the Optimus G Pro is every inch a flagship handset. It has a five inch display with a full HD resolution, putting it in the same league as some currently unannounced rivals, like the Samsung Galaxy S4.
With a screen this big, it is arguably encroaching on 'phablet' territory, combining the functionality of a smartphone with the big screen experience of a full tablet. That means it will also be rivalling the likes of the 5.5 inch Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
The Optimus G Pro will feature a quad core processor with a 1.7GHz clock speed. This will be working in unison with 2GB of RAM and storage space of at least 32GB, with the option to expand via microSD card.
Like other modern handsets, the Optimus G Pro will be compatible with 4G networking and since this week saw the beginning of the 4G network spectrum auction in the UK, we should have a wider range of services on offer by the time this device is released on our shores.
Hopefully, aggressive pricing, as seen with the LG-built Google Nexus 4, will allow this phone to sell well. It may not manage to unseat the Galaxy S4 due to Samsung's established dominance of the market, but for some customers, it will provide the definitive Android experience that pushes it above the alternatives.
