March 21st arrival for Windows Phone Tango

Windows Phone Tango, the next major update for Microsoft's mobile operating system, will be making its first public appearance on the 21st of March, according to The Verge.
Initially it will only be releasing on smartphones in China, but it should soon grace the rest of the world with its presence, with UK handsets getting the software in April.
Windows Phone Tango is an extension of version 7.5 of the platform, but this time the emphasis is on delivering the now famous Windows Phone experience on less technically advanced models.
The most significant change coming with Tango is that mobiles with just 256MB of RAM will be able to run Windows Phone, whereas in the past, a minimum of 512MB has been required.
Early indications suggest that the software, with its Metro UI, will look and feel largely identical. However, on the lower powered handsets, features such as fast application switching will be disabled in order to account for the lack of RAM.
China is certainly the country to target if you want to roll out a series of entry level handsets, although Microsoft is not going to have an easy time of establishing itself in this market. This is due to the dominance of Google's Android operating system, along with the fact that Nokia's Symbian platform is still performing strongly.
Windows Phone offers a more cohesive and user-friendly experience than either Symbian or Android and there are obvious benefits associated with making the Tango update scalable to a wider range of smartphones.
The Nokia Lumia 610 is set to be the cheapest Windows Phone handset on the market in the UK later in the year, so if you are planning to sell your old mobile phone and upgrade to a new, affordable model, then it might be a suitable replacement.
