May launch confirmed for LG Optimus Black

European consumers, including those in the UK, will be able to get their hands on the brand new LG Optimus Black from the end of this month as its impending launch has been officially confirmed.
The Opitmus Black is a high end smartphone which makes use of NOVA display technology across its four inch screen to provide a brighter, more vibrant place to interact with your mobile.
Running Android 2.2 straight out of the box is adequate although a little disappointing, since version 2.3 is the most up to date edition of Google's software. This is a symptom of all recent releases from LG and until updates are made it will be a common feature.
As well as boasting a large display the Optimus Black will be very thin, coming close to rivalling the iPhone 4 at just 9.8 millimetres thick. One omission is the dual core processor which LG has been packing into its other modern mobiles, as the Optimus Black will use a single core chip running at 1GHz.
At the moment there is no pressing need to buy a dual core smartphone because optimised apps and interfaces are still in their infancy, but over the course of a two year contract the Optimus Black might start to feel a little sluggish compared to the Tegra 2-equipped Optimus 2X.
The good news is that its single core CPU will make sure that the Optimus Black is much more affordable than the other high end handsets, particularly for anyone who picks it up on contract.
Expect to see the LG Optimus Black arrive in the UK and across the continent before the end of May, ahead of a global release in June, with a selection of colours available to choose in spite of its nametag.
