Mobile recycling made easier in Northamptonshire

Encouraging people in the UK to recycle their old mobile phones is one thing, but actually getting them to do it on a regular basis is quite another. And now Northamptonshire Council is rolling out a scheme, which it hopes will help to boost the proportion of unwanted electronic devices which are disposed of in a sustainable way across the east of the county.
The portable recycling service is scheduled to visit towns and villages throughout the area, enabling people to get rid of mobile phones, laptop batteries and a range of consumer electronics. The collection will also take on things like used textiles, so that they can be recycled, rather than simply being sent to landfill.
The collection will even accept larger goods, including things like fridges and appliances that could be particularly troublesome for people to transport under their own steam.
Funding for the scheme will allow it to run for a full year, although it is still being considered a trial and, if it is successful, it will lead to the regular rollout of similar initiatives elsewhere in the county.
Council spokesperson, Steven North, told the Northamptonshire Telegraph that items which are collected under the scheme will also undergo a thorough process, to ensure that they are properly recycled, which is something that people are concerned about in many parts of the UK.
Of course, waiting for a recycling point to be set up in the local area is not necessary if you want to sell your old mobile phone, since there are plenty of companies that will give you a quote online. You can then post them your device to receive payment for it, which is a convenience that a growing number of people are choosing to harness in a clean, green way.
