Motorola Droid 3 surfaces online

The third in Motorola's Droid smartphone range has emerged in a series of videos posted to YouTube, with each giving away large chunks of information about the as-yet unannounced mobile.
The Droid 3 looks like it will stick closely to the physical blueprints of its predecessors, packing a full slide-out QWERTY keypad into a slim format and utilising a decent sized touchscreen display with a 960x540 resolution.
Inside the Droid 3 looks to pack a dual core processor running at 1GHz, although it will not be based on the Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, which is found in the Motorola Atrix.
With all this processing grunt at its disposal, the eight megapixel camera of the Droid 3 will allegedly be able to shoot full HD 1080p video clips, according to PhonePads.
Android is sure to be the operating system of choice for the Droid 3, although whether or not it will use version 2.3 or an older edition remains to be seen.
An HDMI output will allow the Droid 3 to be hooked up to your TV, presumably used for media playback and potentially harnessed for direct mirroring, as is possible with the LG Optimus 2X.
Motorola has yet to confirm the release date or any exact price point for the Droid 3, but with the comprehensive nature of the leaks, it is unlikely to keep quiet for long. In fact this kind of detail suggests that the spillage was not entirely accidental and it has helped to drum up plenty of publicity for the upcoming phone.
The Droid range has helped to pull Motorola's mobile division back from the brink over the past couple of years and the third instalment will surely be greeted with interest, particularly in the US where its predecessors have been significant sellers.
