Motorola promises Moto G update ahead of schedule

The Moto G from Motorola has been a critical success since its launch in the UK and now there is an even better reason to invest in this affordable yet powerful device, as an early software update will bring Android 4.4 KitKat to the device before originally planned.
The Moto G is technically impressive, boasting a quad core processor and 720p HD display, in spite of the fact that it should cost around £135 to buy upfront, which puts it in the same category as many less comprehensively equipped pay as you go devices.
Google now owns Motorola, so the Moto G runs a stock version of Android Jelly Bean as standard. The lack of third party interface means that the update process is easy to carry out and Android KitKat can be rolled out onto the handset with minimal fuss or delay.
Meanwhile, anyone who has an Android phone with a third party manufacturer will probably have to wait a few months before this same software is made available, if it even gets released at all.
The rollout of the KitKat update is only applicable to versions of the Moto G which are purchased from either Motorola's official store, or indeed the one offered by online retailer, Amazon.
This means that there will still be a bit of a delay as network providers get their hands on the update and then filter it through to people who have already purchased a Moto G and are enjoying its features today.
Google's tenure as owner of Motorola has got off to a good start and it is really blasting the competition out of the water in terms of raw value, even if the upshot of this is that the company cannot be making that much money from each Moto G device which it sells.
