Motorola to debut Android tablets at CES 2011

Mobile manufacturer Motorola has released a video via YouTube which shows that it plans to expand its range of portable devices based on the Android platform to include tablets, with the CES 2011 conference set to be the venue for the unveiling of these products.
The video, unsubtly titled 'Tablet Evolution,' takes the form of a timeline-style explanation of how tablets have developed over the years. It includes witty digs at various tablets throughout history, including the Rosetta Stone, before tackling more modern rivals including the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Motorola's complaint about the iPad is that it is nothing more than a giant iPhone, which is something many of Apple's detractors have argued since its launch.
The Galaxy Tab meanwhile is trickier for Motorola to fault since it runs Android, but the firm has a stab at doing so by stating that it runs a version of Android primarily designed for mobile phones, which is true.
The deeper implication of this video is that Motorola will be launching a tablet computer which breaks free from the shackles of smartphone associations and, as such, many are suggesting that it will be one of the first devices to run Android 3.0, otherwise known as Honeycomb.
The video is literally packed with teasing hints, as the Honeycomb nametag for Google's next Android OS is suggested by the presence of a CGI bee which buzzes close to the Motorola logo at the end, before leaving text which reads 'CES 2011' in its wake.
Motorola was in deep water with lagging sales and a diminishing share of the mobile market until it started to focus on Android-based handsets. Now it is in much better shape and the arrival of tablets based on Android 3.0 will further strengthen its brand and range.
