National Recycle Week begins

The UK is celebrating National Recycle Week over the coming days and there are a number of events which members of the public can get involved with, if they want to do their bit to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the planet through sustainable disposal of unwanted items.
One of the biggest schemes taking place this week is being held at Liverpool Street station in London, where old mobile phones are being collected.
Receptacles throughout the busy travel interchange are being established, to ensure that commuters do not need to hang onto unwanted handsets for any longer than is necessary.
Organisers are also keen to point out that any old phone which is deposited at the station will be securely and sustainably recycled, which means that personal data will not be compromised and as much of the remaining value as possible will be squeezed from even the most ancient of handsets.
Network Rail is working in partnership with mobile provider, O2, to run this recycling scheme, with the money raised by the donated devices helping to provide much needed funding to a charitable cause which does a lot of work with homeless children. So people who hand over their mobiles will not just be improving the environment, but contributing to a worthy organisation as well.
With tens of millions of old mobile phones lying around unused in households across the country, there is a lot that people can do to ensure that National Recycle Week is a real success. And digging unwanted handsets out of dusty drawers and cupboards is a good place to start.
Even if you will not be heading through Liverpool Street station this week, you can still recycle your phone easily in any part of the country, by comparing the different recycling companies which operate online.
