New Android phones from LG and Acer spotted

The continued support for Google's Android operating system shows no signs of slowing, with Acer and LG both having new handsets leaked to the media to tantalise those who are nearing the end of their contracts.
The Acer Liquid Metal S120 made its first appearance courtesy of industry regulators in the US who have tested the handset and given details about its raw specifications.
The Liquid Metal will run Android 2.2, putting it on the same run as the HTC Desire HD. It is also said to pack an 800MHz processor which will put its 200MHz behind its major rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S, although as you may know the clockspeed is not as important as the way in which it is optimised.
All the standard smartphone features like GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G are onboard and it has even got a UK launch date pencilled in before the end of the month. If you are in the market for an Android smartphone with a 3.6 inch display then the shiny metal goodness of this Acer handset might be of interest.
While Acer is aiming squarely at the middle of the market it looks like one of LG's future Android smartphones might be taking a significant evolutionary step forwards by offering LTE network connectivity. LTE is the bridge that will eventually lead to 4G, but for the time being it will easily surpass 3G once UK network providers have concluded testing and actually made superfast networks widely available.
There are few details about this LG handset but a picture has emerged showing that it will be hitting the US market on the Verizon network. A camera with HD video capture has also been snapped and the large touchscreen interface looks to be covered by a glass panel, making it look like a high quality handset. It should not be long before more news emerges about this mystery LG mobile.
