Nokia launches Lumia range

The first Windows Phone 7 handsets to emerge from the labs of Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia have been officially unveiled, falling into a new product category known as Lumia.
The Lumia 800 will be Nokia's flagship device and those with a keen interest in the mobile market will know that this is very similar to the MeeGo-based N9. It is so similar, in fact, that Nokia has decided not to stock the N9 on our shores in order to avoid confusion amongst consumers.
In terms of design, the Lumia 800 features a 3.7 inch OLED display housed in a solid chassis with capacitive buttons below the screen and metallic physical buttons on the side to control the camera, screen lock and volume.
Onboard version 7.5 of the Windows Phone platform, otherwise known as Mango, is present, while Nokia has added a few of its own exclusive software features. This includes the turn-by-turn navigation app, Nokia Drive and the audio streaming service, Nokia Music.
A single core 1.4GHz processor is found within the Lumia 800, which delivers the same amount of power as other second generation Windows Phone handsets like the HTC Titan.
The Nokia Lumia 710 is the more affordable end of the new Windows Phone range, coming with a multitude of colourful exterior shells which can be swapped and a chunkier design than the 800. Its 3.7 inch display has the same dimensions as its sibling, but it is not powered by OLEDs, so its performance is not going to be as impressive.
Because Microsoft insists on creating a uniform experience for anyone picking up a Windows Phone handset, the Lumia 710 should not feel any different from the 800 or any other mobile based on this platform. As such, it should be easy to recommend to anyone who wants to get an affordable smartphone without losing out on high end features.
