Nokia leaks Windows Phone 7 mobile plans

The first pair of smartphones based on Windows Phone 7 to emerge from Nokia have appeared in the hands of a Russian reviewer in prototype form, giving users an idea about what the Finnish firm is planning for the platform.
It looks likely that Nokia will be waiting until next year before launching its primary Windows Phone 7 handsets, although some interesting developments have been unearthed by Habrahabr.ru which suggests that they will not be completely new models.
Nokia is allegedly working on two Windows Phone 7 models, the W7 and W8, which will be based largely on the hardware which is already out there in the form of the Nokia X7 and N8.
Changes are definitely being made to the basic components, with the prototypes allegedly running on dual core Qualcomm processors which will allow them to live up to and exceed the minimum requirements of Windows Phone 7.
The W8 will also have a slight camera downgrade when compared to the all-conquering N8, its eight megapixel snapper paling in comparison to the 12 megapixel behemoth found on Nokia's flagship Symbian smartphone.
The W7 is thought to be the first to launch in early 2012 and the reviewer who had a chance to toy with the prototype said that it is similar to the HTC Mozart.
The W8 looks set to retain the basic design of the N8, although it could be necessary to include a larger display as the 3.5 inch OLED screen of the original is not quite possessing of the right dimensions for the minimum requirements.
Nokia is apparently going to launch a total of 12 Windows Phone 7 smartphones next year, which should give consumers a broad range of choice, although it is easy to be disappointed that the first to emerge will be rehashes of older tech.
