Persistent crashing remains unfixed on LG Optimus 2X handsets

UK consumers and others around the world who invested in the dual core LG Opitmus 2X when it launched earlier in the year, will be disappointed to hear that a software fix that is promised to remedy various glitches is not due in the immediate future.
LG has said that it has encountered a number of issues which are preventing it from launching an update to patch the Optimus 2X and, as such, users will have to get used to random reboots and black screen crashes.
A post on the LG Optimus 2X blog has stated that there will be several more weeks of waiting to endure at the minimum, which does not bode well for owners of what was the world's first dual core smartphone.
LG said that the main problem is that the crashing issues are rooted deep in the phone, making it very difficult to isolate and remedy them via software update.
There is of course a silver lining to this cloud, because not every LG Optiums 2X owner is affected by any means, so if you have been enjoying dual core functionality since investing in one of these handsets without impediment, then there is no need to worry.
LG said that the current deadline for the fix has been pushed back to the end of the month, although it has been cagey enough to allow for further delays should the situation warrant them.
Plenty of apologies and platitudes may be necessary at this time, but they will be small relief for anyone who just wants a smartphone which works without shutting down at random. The Opitmus 2X issues could be as problematic for LG as Antennagate was for Apple and the iPhone 4 back in summer last year.
