RSPB and Tesco unite on recycling scheme

The RSPB is seeking the aid of supermarket giant Tesco, to help develop a new recycling initiative going by the name of 'Together for Trees.'
The world's changing climate is being heavily impacted by deforestation and Together for Trees is hoping to reduce the impact of such human activities, but it needs funding to get off the ground.
Over the next 12 months, around £1 million is expected to be raised by the scheme and Tesco will be offering its customers a range of ways to help out. The first £75K will come from sales of reusable bags branded with the scheme's logo and further levies on plastic bags in Wales will help top up the total raised.
Customers across the UK will have the option to directly donate their Tesco Clubcard points which they earn for performing green actions, such as recycling old mobile phones or used printer ink cartridges, to Together for Trees, which means there are plenty of different ways to contribute, without eating into your bank balance.
Tesco customers have a range of other ways to earn green Clubcard points, which includes asking for bagless deliveries when they order their groceries online and even recycling cans at their local store.
Tesco has outlined some ambitious targets to reduce its carbon footprint and, by 2050, it is expected to become completely carbon neutral, which means it will compensate for any carbon it emits into the atmosphere.
There have been various drives to try and save the world's rainforests in recent years, but with over 20 million consumers using Tesco on a regular basis, it will be easier to spread the message than ever, according to RSPB spokesperson, Katie Jo. Hopefully, the scheme will be successful and a worthy cause will be aided.
