Recycled leather turned into phone cases

Electric car maker, Tesla Motors, has made a huge impact on the industry in recent years, introducing vehicles which are not only environmentally sustainable but also fast, stylish and prestigious. So it is unsurprising that it has launched a range of iPhone cases which represent this same unusual ethos.
TechRadar reports that the Tesla-branded cases are fashioned from high quality leather and are designed to fit both the iPhone 6 as well as the newer 6S ranges, encompassing the standard 4.7 inch version of Apple’s handset, as well as the larger 5.5 inch 'Plus' models.
A leather phone case is not remarkable in its own right, but what gives Tesla’s products the edge is the fact that they make use of recycled material. Specifically, the leather used comes from the off-cuts that result from the upholstery of the seats built for its cars.
This is not the only product that Tesla has created with sustainability in mind, as it also sells branded clothing which comes from responsible sources. And it is a firm that seems keen to emphasise the idea that luxury goods do not have to come at the expense of ethical manufacturing.
In the coming year, Tesla is planning to launch one of its most affordable models to date - a compact saloon which will be priced to take on rivals like the BMW 3 Series, while also offering the on-board electric engines which mean that it will also qualify as a zero emissions vehicle.
There are many other products that smartphone owners can buy if they want to make their mobile use more sustainable, with any case being a good investment since it will protect your precious device and keep it in good condition for longer. You can then sell your old mobile phone further down the line and recycle it for the good of the planet, and your wallet.
