Recycling rush as Apple announces iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 was announced by Apple last week and current fans of this range, who have an older model, have begun rushing to sell their mobile phone, to drum up some cash for the newer iteration.
Figures reported by PhonesReview.co.uk, suggest that in the week before the iPhone 5's announcement, 80 per cent of people who were using mobile phone recycling comparison tools online, were looking to see how much they could get for their soon to be outdated old iPhone.
In the days since the iPhone 5 went public, iPhone recycling has increased by around 362 per cent, which is very similar to the rush which occurred following the launch of the iPhone 4S last year.
In fact, it seems that the most sensible owners will actually have unloaded their iPhones a little before the announcement of the new models.
It is reported that all iPhone devices go down in value by about 15% following Apple's launch event each year, so as long as you time it right, you could actually recoup a bit more of your initial investment.
Of course by comparing the prices offered by different mobile phone recycling companies, you could still get a good deal, because it is estimated that there is an average 40% price difference between the very best and the very lowest offer, on an average mobile handset.
Last year following the launch of the iPhone 4S, the older models fell in price by over £180 within the first 14 days, which is a direct result of the massive recycling push made by people who simply have to have the latest device.
Anyone who is going to recycle an old iPhone should not rush into it and always check the terms and conditions offered by particular firms, to make sure that the best possible offer is being harnessed.
