Top mobile phones to recycle before Christmas
Monday, December 2, 2013 - 12:03:50
If you are thinking of selling your old mobile phone to upgrade to a new model, now is the best time to do it. All of the best devices to be released in 2013 are now available and many have become more affordable than ever in the weeks and months since they were first launched.
But when is the best time to upgrade and is it worth ditching some ageing handsets more than others? Here is a look at phones you should sell now, rather than waiting until later.
Nokia Lumia 800
The Lumia 800 was a great phone when it first emerged, showing that Nokia was committed to entering the modern smartphone race with gusto. But since it runs Windows Phone 7 and will not be getting an upgrade to Windows Phone 8, it is starting to look quite long in the tooth.
Investing in the Lumia 1020, which has WP8 and a 41 megapixel camera, might be sensible. Or you could pick the Lumia 1520, which has a six inch 1080p screen and a quad core processor.
iPhone 4S
The iPhone 5S is proving to be one of Apple's best handsets yet and with a 64 bit processor, four inch screen and fingerprint scanner, it is much more appealing than the two year old 4S, which only has a 3.5 inch screen and lacks 64 bit compatibility.
Samsung Galaxy S2
A flagship device in its heyday, the Galaxy S2 is no longer the king of the mobile market and has been superseded by a number of other models. Even bargain basement handsets can boast dual core CPUs these days, so upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the Galaxy Note 3 and selling your old handset, is a good idea this Christmas.
