Twin 3D displays rumoured for Windows Phone 7 Nokia handset

Nokia is allegedly creating a smartphone which will have two screens and the ability to showcase stereoscopic 3D content, all running on the Windows Phone 7 platform.
The Finnish firm saw its smartphone market share slip significantly over the past year and is definitely in need of a shot in the arm if it is to retain its position as a leading manufacturer.
These rumours have come about because of a patent application made by Nokia which showed a 3D ready dual screen device which can keep tabs on the position of the user's eyes via a front facing camera.
The whole dual screen 3D trick has already been pulled off by Nintendo with the 3DS console, although in this situation only one of the displays is capable of 3D playback and it is most definitely not a smartphone.
Since Nokia is partnering with Microsoft for future smartphone launches it seems likely that any 3D device it creates will be based on Windows Phone 7 or its subsequent successors, according to Mobile Review.
Nokia is also apparently creating a tablet device which will run the as yet unreleased Windows 8 platform that Microsoft is developing to replace Windows 7 later this year. it was originally rumoured that the Nokia tablet would be on the market in 2012 but this release date has already been pushed back to 2013, by which point the fourth generation iPad could already be here.
A statement from Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop, suggests that it is only in the very early stages of planning for a tablet launch, but there is little doubt that it needs to get its act together in the smartphone market much sooner than 2013 if it wants to survive beyond this year.
