US network introduces mobile recycling app

A new app from US network provider, Verizon, is intending to do away with some of the obstacles which can be involved with selling an old mobile phone for recycling. It intends to increase the percentage of unwanted devices which are disposed of responsibly, as well as boost the amount of cash which it can generate by reconstituting the precious minerals which are found within old handsets, according to the Guardian.
The idea is not just to allow users to harness the app to get a valuation on their outgoing phone quickly, but also to deliver payment for the product in as little time as possible.
Industry insiders claim that many people are put off the idea of selling a phone to be recycled because of how long it can take for their payment to arrive. But the incentive of speedy payment promised by Verizon, could do much to change this state of affairs.
Of course in the UK, there are many different companies offering consumers the opportunity to sell their old mobiles in exchange for cash. And the relative maturity of the market means that payments can be received very quickly following the receipt of the device.
This does not mean that all providers will offer similar quotes for unwanted phones, which is why it pays to shop around and sell to a reputable brand, that will be able to manage your case seamlessly.
From an ethical point of view, recycling old mobile phones has many benefits, not all of which are environmental. For example, the precious minerals contained are often mined in poorer parts of the world, where their extraction is used to fund conflicts, so if more recycled materials are available, then this vicious cycle can be stemmed to a greater extent.
