Upcoming 2011 HTC Android smartphone rumoured

Rumours of yet another smartphone based on Android from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC have emerged, with a 2011 launch date pencilled in for this mysterious mobile.
The speculation has been growing ever since it was discovered that among a list of supported handsets on the HTCSense.com website was an, as yet unannounced smartphone, called the HTC Mecha.
It is thought that for the moment this title is being used as a development code name only, with many believing that it could be changed before it hits the market.
The Sense website is being promoted by HTC to get its mobile customers involved with a host of new abilities, including remote tracking and locking of a lost or stolen smartphone.
The HTC Mecha is part of a small list that also contains the Desire HD and Desire Z, which could suggest that it will become part of the gradually expanding Desire range, although, oddly, it was accompanied by an image of the 2009 HTC Hero.
Observers argue that HTC is not likely to be reviving the Hero's design and, as such, it is surely a holding image put in place until the firm is ready to unveil the Mecha, or whatever it is eventually named, to the world.
HTC is a relatively prolific mobile manufacturer, with support for various platforms including Android and Windows Phone 7 across a number of different handsets. At the moment little is known about its intended line up for next year, but it would be no surprise to see yet another high end smartphone based on Google's operating system emerge from its labs.
One thing that is certain about the HTC Mecha is that it will run version 2.2 of Android and the latest version of the Sense user interface, a fact that is implied by its inclusion on the site.
