Welsh mobile recycling scheme

A new scheme to encourage people to recycle old mobile phones and used printer cartridges has been set up in Llandelio, South Wales.
People who take classes in IT and digital photography at the local community education centres are being given the opportunity to do away with their unwanted electronic devices, including used phones, as well as prevent their printer cartridges from going to landfill sites, when they could easily be recycled.
This is a charitable effort which is going to raise plenty of cash for the Parkinsons UK Support and Research Fund, according to the South Wales Guardian.
There is no deadline for this project and so old mobile phones and printer cartridges will continue to be collected over the coming months and anyone who upgrades and ousts their existing handset can get involved.
Mobile phone recycling is fast becoming one of the most popular ways for people to raise cash for charities. With millions of unused handsets lying around in drawers across the UK, there are plenty of people who can do their bit by recycling and donating the cash to a good cause.
Some mobile recycling firms will offer you the opportunity to pass on the value of your old handset direct to charity, although you could get the best deal yourself by comparing the various providers, picking the top price and then donating the funds from the sale yourself.
Recycling an old mobile phone is a doubly good deed if you donate it to charity, because this action will also benefit the environment because the harmful components and precious metals within a typical handset will not simply go to waste on a rubbish tip. There are similar schemes to this Welsh initiative across the UK, although selling your phone online is possible, regardless of your location.
