White iPhone 4 snapped in the wild

A member of the public was seen using a white version of the iPhone 4 in New York and aroused the interests of a nearby employee of a tech site, who eventually got to the bottom of how someone had got hold of the, as yet, unreleased alternative to Apple's successful smartphone.
After taking some pictures the keen techie spoke to the person in question and was gifted with some interesting information which explains why the white iPhone 4, which has been work in progress for months, is still not available to the average consumer.
According to the source who spoke to Pocket Lint, the white iPhone 4 he was using was acquired for him by a friend who works at Apple's Californian headquarters. Many Apple employees are allegedly using white iPhone 4 handsets, but Apple is refusing to launch this product until a couple of relatively minor imperfections have been eradicated.
The main issue for Apple is that the hue of whiteness on the home button is not quite in line with that of the surrounding face plate, leaving it with the task of continually sending its Asian suppliers back to the drawing board until they can consistently produce something which looks perfect.
It seems that until such a time as the white iPhone 4 meets up to Apple's exacting standards, it will only be insiders who can grab this special edition of the smartphone.
In other iPhone news, the world's most expensive mobile has been constructed by long time luxury handset tinkerer Stuart Hughes. By taking an iPhone 4, stripping out most of the major external assets and then replacing them with diamonds and other precious materials, he managed to bring the total price of the handset up to £5 million, fulfilling an order for two placed by an Australian businessman.
