Windows Phone 7 update could debut in early September.

Microsoft might be rolling out the Mango update for Windows Phone 7 on September 1st, putting it just a few weeks away from its official launch.
This is according to sources quoted by Pocket-Lint, who are apparently able to confirm that WP7 will be getting its most significant update so far at the start of next month.
The reason for Microsoft's imminent delivery of WP7 Mango is thought to be the impending IFA 2011 trade show that is being held in Germany. A number of manufacturing partners, including LG and Samsung, are thought to be launching new WP7 handsets at this event and so getting the Mango update out there in tandem with these seems sensible.
Mango will beef up the features of WP7 in a number of areas. Multitasking of sorts will be possible, letting users review recently opened apps and jump back into them without having to wait for the annoying process of resuming to be completed.
Microsoft distributed the Mango code to various manufacturers last month and so it should technically be possible for the update to actually go live in September.
One other top reason for Microsoft to choose September as the launch window for a new version of WP7 is that rival Apple is likely to be showcasing the iPhone 5 and the iOS 5 platform in the same month.
It looks like Microsoft, Apple and now Google will all be pushing brand new software and hardware in the autumn. Leaked screenshots of Android Ice Cream Sandwich surfaced last week and an October launch is anticipated for the latest iteration of Google's platform.
Whatever your brand allegiances, the next few months should be a very exciting time for the mobile phone market as the old is pushed out to make way for the new.
